Nowadays, with the development of modern transportation infrastructures and the expansion of advanced driver assistance systems, the need for environmental sensors with high accuracy and reliability has become increasingly important. Among the various automotive sensing technologies, millimeter-wave multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems, due to their high resolution in both range and angle domains, are widely utilized as an effective tool for monitoring the surrounding environment and estimating the spatial parameters of nearby vehicles. In this paper, the desired radar signal model and the radar interference signal are first derived based on a complete signal processing chain for FDM-based MIMO radar systems. Then, in order to mitigate the mutual radar interference in dense environments, the Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) method is employed for effective interference suppression. Subsequently, after improving the quality of the received signal, the joint estimation of the spatial parameters of automotive targets, including range and angle, is performed using a two-dimensional Fast Fourier Transform (2D-FFT). Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through numerical simulation results.
