Structural vibration control using intelligent materials has received much attention nowadays. These materials due to their high frequency, low weight and volume, easy convert electrical energy into mechanical and vice versa are being used increasingly in the aerospace industry (for example missiles fin, helicopter rotor blades, satellites, etc.), Marine (Noise and Vibration in submarines, ...), sports equipment as well as space trusses. This study deals with the vibration control of a laminated composite beam using smart magnetostrictive layers. The Navier method has been used to solve the vibration problem of simply supported beams. In the following the effect of the magnetostrictive layers thickness, composite lay-up and magnetic field on the vibration behavior of smart beam has been studied.
